Beauty Box 5 – September 2012

I know you guys think I am crazy about all these boxes, but I did decide to try one more box this month just to see what else is out there.

I purchased Beauty Box 5 for $12 – no tax or shipping.

My address was goofy in their system, so this box took about 3 weeks to get to me.

On all of the other beauty box sites I subscribe to, they give you a total run down of the product in your box and ways to shop for it.  When I received my box, it just had a thank you note included, but no information on what the products actually were, if I was receiving any full size product or even what the prices of these products would be if I wanted to purchase them.  That was kind of a bummer because I don’t really know the benefit of these products.

I liked their marketing, I thought it was a cute box.

Here’s what I got:

Psssst! Dry hair shampoo – I already received the exact same thing from Beauty Army a few months ago.

H20+ Marine Calm Restorative Eye Creme .13 oz – I love eye cream so this will be fun to try.

Blum Naturals Pro Age Daily Cleansing Towelette – 3

Ferro Cosmetics – Sheer Crystal Veil.  This is a mess waiting to happen.  It is a (very small) jar of minerals that I can just see going everywhere!  It is supposed to make you glowing and dewy.  I wore it tonight and didn’t feel like it did anything.

ELLIS FAAS Glazed Lips – I think this is a full size twist up lip gloss, but there is no color listed so I don’t want to open it – if it’s not my color I would like to pass it along.  Oh what’s a girl to do… another beauty dilemma.

While all of this was nice, the box left me a little cold – not personal at all and maybe I’ve gotten a little spoiled with Birchbox at only $10 and Beauty Army at $12 – both of them make me feel like it’s my birthday when I open a box.  This just didn’t have that special touch that I have experienced with the other boxes.

Conclusion:  nice, but not for me.  This will be a one shot box.

Birchbox September 2012

Twistband – Birchbox custom lace tie – lace is all the rage this season.  These ties are really gentle on your hair, they don’t pull or snag.  I wore them when my hair was longer.  

Youngblood – Mineral Primer

Lifestyle Extra:  Mightly Leaf Tea Company: green tea.  Mr. Running with Shears will love this.

I am more inclined to go with the BaByliss just because the Conair is a pretty cheap model, but if you need on in a pinch and it’s in your budget – it might work!

I have been using Body Drench Spray self tanner for about a year and a half and thought I would try the FakeBake version last week when I stopped by the beauty supply.  Both are fool proof, don’t smell obnoxious and give instant color while it develops over time into a tan that lasts for days.

Bare Escentuals Big Announcement Today: Solid “Ready” Foundation

As many of you know, BE is near and dear to my heart.  I am in store several times a month working hard to share the glory of all that is Bare Escentuals.  There are a lot of very exciting things happening with the brand currently, from Bravon’s Visit to Nordstrom Alderwood, the launch of Solid – “Ready” foundation and lots, my two year anniversary (which will feature some reflections) and lots of events – there will be much to talk about.  Now about today’s big reveal…

QVC was the latest to reveal the new Solid Foundation, which fits into Bare Escentuals new “Ready” line.  The Ready line is all solid – shadows, setting powder (mineral veil), blush, bronzer and now foundation.  Don’t worry your hearts my friend… they will still carry the loose forms of the product, this just gives us more choices.  I love it – I have everything listed above.  The pigments are true and really easy to use.

So today, I watched the QVC launch online and decided to buy their limited edition foundation, that comes with a special silver compact that you can “refill” (just buy the black case and put it into the silver one) and new brush to be used with the foundation.  I am excited to get this – I want to use it before I start trying it out on people so that I’ve got a good handle on the product because it is so new to BE.  The product ships on August 25th and I can’t wait to get it!
