This month’s Birchbox is themed with “give” – there was a cute box for you to empty, then put something nice in for someone else. I have to admit, I am a little behind on that part. I loved that this box came with a full size lip gloss with a mirror on the side! How fun is that? There is also a new hair product for texture and volume that I will test drive tomorrow morning!
Here is the run down:
Oscar Blandi Pronto Texture and Volume Spray – this created MASSIVE volume that stayed ALL day… even in our Seattle rain!
Caldrea Hand Soap
Lip Gloss with Mirror: ModelCo SHINE Ultra Lip Gloss – super pretty orange/red color!
Aromatic Body Serum: One Love Organics
Perfume: John Varvatos Artisan
CHROMATICgallerie coupon for $15 off – I think coupons in beauty boxes are stupid. Especially when the shoes are $88 and it’s a company I have never heard of before…. I say no (and I did check out the site).
I still love my Birchboxes - it’s only $10 for a little bit of joy once a month! Follow my link here to sign up!
…And my favorite box arrives again!
Here’s what was in this month’s box!
October 2012 Birchbox
Lucy B – Ping Frangipani & Wild Jasmine Roll-On Perfume Oils
Quidad – Climate Control Heat and humidity Gel – this will go to one of my favorite clients this week!
theBalm Cosmetics – Mary-Lou Manizer – a highlighter… one of my favorite things (2nd to bronzer)
Vitivia – Pro:vitamins A15 and C10. I thought this was to ingest, but it is for your face and next. Vitamin C brightens your skin tone, while Vitamin A refines pores!
Lifestyle Extra: LUNA protein – Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar. I ate it. It was alright.
That’s it for this month’s Birchbox! If there is something I can keep giveaway and eat… I am a happy camper!

This is my 3rd Beauty Box 5 and I am still not impressed. I had thought I cancelled last month…
Beauty Box 5 October 2012
Here is what was in this month’s box “tricks of the trade”!
Margania Pure Argan Oil – you can use this alone or mix it with moisturizer, great healing benefits.
City Lips Lip Plumper – packed with antioxidants and moisturizers.
ShowStoppers FAshion Tape – keep your fashion fashioned! This may come in handy for the holiday season ahead of us.
Goat Hause Dairy Lip Balm – Light weight silky soft… and it is – I am wearing it now and it feels great!
Furlesse Elevens – This appears to be an anti-aging product that gives you a clear patch to put over your wrinkles and magically they will be gone! I don’t have any wrinkles, but we’ll see how it goes!
Lash Card – I have not tried these yet, but have read a lot about them, can’t wait to see if my mascara will be fab the next time I wear it!
I think Birchbox is still my favorite – the marketing is just so much slicker than everyone else on the market and I pretty much lover everything in their boxes!
Beauty Army Beauty Box is frankly getting a little old. While you get to choose your own samples, I was given the same choices over and over again and even ended up reordering items I had ordered previous months. I think I will skip the next few months to see if they finally drop the shower gel they keep offering.
Beauty Army October 2012 Personalized Box
MACADAMIA NATURAL OIL – for dry damaged hair. I NEED this! My hair is so high maintenance and the oils are supposed to be soooo good for your hair… I am ready for some repairing work!
BATH & BODY WORKS
Paris Amour Shower Gel – This is the second month in a row for a Bath and Body Works Shower Gel and I am kinda done… this will be gifted to some beauty fan!
Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels – I am all about repairing and preventing aging and stress around the eye area, so this is a welcomed addition!
Hothouse Flower – I am not excited, but it came in a cool box.
(Coral Poppy) – I LOVE this lipstick! LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. The pigment is amazing. There is nothing in the lip gloss side – nothing comes out. This is not one I would buy the twin set of, but the coral lipstick is amazing!
YOU DA BALM
Grapefruit – This was fun! A nice treat for my lips. It’s a great size and pleasant taste.
Ok, after reading all of what I have just posted, I feel better about my box. This one was fun… minus the shower gel.
Sign up for Beauty Army here! $ 12 a month and you get to choose 6 out of 9 samples!
Bead and Bullet has come on Seattle fashion scene with creator Alice’s vision for fashionable and unique pieces. I won a couple of her custom designs and just love them. But today, I will show off one of her signature pieces! The Bullet was featured at her first trunk show this fall and it sold out quickly. It is so original, I wanted you to see just how cool it is!
Here is the Bullet of Bead and a Bullet. It’s a casing attached to a chain with etched detailed work made into a long necklace.
This is a conversation starter and the new staple for your wardrobe.
Chain Length is 32″ – great long necklace to throw on with any outfit!
Long bullet is 2″ short is 1.5″.
Designs differ so contact Bead and Bullet for current designs.
Order from her etsy store here.
Alice has a flare for fashion – there is much more where this came from. She does everything from bullets to flowers and birds… black, white, yellow and red! She is always on trend with the latest hair style or color and her favorite color right now is light teal blue. She also has the most amazing voice – she is so laid back I feel cooler just hearing her talk and her laugh is contagious. I can’t wait to share more of her designs with you! Look out Seattle… a new force of fashion is among us!
Mascara Madness is back! I definitely found my favorite last time around and had a surprising disappointment as well!
LOVE: Trish McEvoy Volume
HATE: LANCOME Hypnose – it flakes and makes a mess of my makeup! Awwk!
Call Denise Lankhar at Nordstrom Alderwood to place your order – she can ship for free or you can pick up in store on Saturday! 425.771.5755
I say yes. If you have followed me for any time at all, you know I am a product junkie. I love my serums, eye creams, night creams, tinted moisturizer…. Love product. Well, there was one product I have been on the fence about because I didn’t really see how it worked. But I am now a believer.
I generally have larger pores and some black heads. I have good skin, but there are always minor things we could improve. I was given some of the Bare Escentuals Pure Transformation Night Treatment to use and I half heartedly used it for some time and then about a couple of weeks ago, I decided to give it a real go. The promise is to shrink your pores and turnover skin revealing healthier, more vibrant skin. Well guess what? It works! The mechanism that is used is quite innovative for skin care. It is basically loose pigmented minerals that you buff onto your face after your moisturizer has settled.
I don’t have any black heads on my face and you can’t see my pores! It works! It works! It comes with a $60 price tag, but I would buy it any day. Let me tell you that I have been using it in combination with my Bare Escentuals Active Cell Renewal Night Serum – 1 Oz
and between the two, my skin is hydrated, radiant and my pores look smaller!
Give it a whirl!
So… I just posted about my Beauty Box Five delivery last week, but I just received an additional delivery today. Hmmm…. I am thinking the delivery goof up from last month had something to do with it. I am glad that I received a second box because it addressed some of the criticisms I had about the box. I was going to cancel the box subscription, however I didn’t have time before this one arrived. It looks like west coast delivery is the 18th of the month, which is a little later than the Birchbox or Beauty Army beauty boxes that I currently subscribe to. That is just fine with me because I don’t want them all arriving on the same day like Birchbox and Beauty Army have been recently. The box was sent with an itemized run down of what was in the box so you know what you are getting – this made me happy because the first box did not have this and I was left wondering just what I had received.
Beauty Box 5 – box no. 2
So here goes:
- H. Wood Beauty Lip Shine – the product plus a 25% off coupon code.
- Goat Hause Dairy – Bath Melts (1 Melt) – can’t wait to use this… do you know how long it’s been since I’ve had a relaxing bath?
- Silk Naturals – Eyeshadow. Gluten free and Vegan friendly.
- Nastassja Skin – Enzyme Facial Peel – any skin type!
- Nume – Hydro Punch Hydrating Shampoo I can’t wait to try everything out! It’s a good mix of everything: body, hair, lips, eyes, skin… I think they covered just about everything!
Well the Bravon Bare Escentuals event at Nordstrom Alderwood this past weekend was a smashing success! Natalie, the counter manager gave her all to make sure all the loose ends were tied and everyone felt a warm welcome. As a freelancer working the event, I had a great time and saw that everyone enjoyed themselves, got great product tailored just for them and got their makeup done by a great group of experts.
One little lady that came was my client Ashley – she had a smile on her face the entire time! It was so much fun to see her enjoying herself and even winning a gift during the class. I think she learned a lot and felt like a princess! We all need that and I was so glad that was accomplished.
I’ll keep you posted for the next time Bravon is in town – it will be an event you won’t want to miss!
